Preface

Welcome to TypeScripted, a blogging community for using Psychological Type in writing.  While the focus will be on comic books, with the related genres of science fiction and fantasy, any Type of writing can benefit from the knowledge of Psychological Types, and any requests or questions are always welcome.

First, a little about the primary author, me.  My name is Michael Pastor, and I have been an avid reader and writer since the age of three.  At the age of 30, I was introduced to Psychological Types through a good friend, who taught Type and had a consulting group with his mother and a few friends.  I joined the firm first as the office manager, but quickly gained my Qualification to teach Type through Type Resources in Kentucky and joined as a trainer and curriculum developer before the firms eventual dissolution.  I've used Type ever since in every aspect of life, personally and professionally in my many career paths.  One of the most rewarding uses of Type I have found is in writing, as it really helps me frame my characters, and the conflicts and synergies between characters.  It is in this blog that I hope to impart what I have learned to others to help them in the same way.

Another benefit of learning one's Type is to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of one's own writing, and the strengths and weaknesses of one's own habits and discipline in writing.  I must admit that I don't have much discipline as a writer, as I fear the blank page, and especially fear the finality of putting my words to print.  They say that sometimes the best way to learn is to teach - so this will also be a bit of self-therapy, so that I may finally finished the dozen projects that I have started but never finished.

The genesis of this blog happened over beer, naturally.  While expressing a desire to present a panel on using Type with Comics, I finally realized (after beer three) that a blog would be a good place to start.  A big thank you goes to Dirk Manning and K. Lynn Smith who did a great job listening to a fanboy try to explain a complicated theory after a long day (for all of us) working at the convention, and inspiring me to pursue this.  By this time next year, we'll have this journey wrapped up into a nice presentation - and then - watch out!

My other (neglected) blogs are linked in the side panel.  I invite you to peruse them.  Some have a direct relation, some a tangential one, and others no relation other than through me as the author.

As I mentioned, I want this to be a community of writers, so feedback is welcome, begged and necessary to create one.  All standard mores of community and comments apply.
